President Trump supports arming teachers; here's how West Texas has done it for years

This is a pretty decent, even supportive, article on how some Texas schools have armed their staff. Not a single quote from one of the national or statewide nanny-teacher organizations about how teachers are too infantile...err, busy...to be able to handle a gun and an intruder.

In fact, there is a very good quote from Christoval Independent School District Superintendent David Walker:
“The board and I believe that teachers acting as unarmed shields is unrealistic,” said Walker, ...
Christoval not only arms teachers with handguns, but they have AR-15s and shotguns available as well.

The article also has a list of schools in Texas, with a link to their policies, presumably their policies on arming staff.

Worth a read.

Around where I live, Callisburg ISD has had the "Guardian Program" for about 3-4 years now. It's a brilliant program.

Market niche!
School Attorney Joe Hoffer, managing partner with the law firm Schulman, Lopez, Hoffer & Adelstein, LLP, has helped more than a dozen school districts set up Guardian Plans.

Very good and encouraging article.

Teachers are very divided on this issue. Just about every teacher on my campus has stated that they would like the option to carry; I do know some that say no-way-no-how-this-is-a-bad-idea. Teachers in the more liberal areas of the state are very against employees carrying.

Personally, I would prefer school marshalls for various reasons, but I would rather carry than continue to be as vulnerable as we are.

I recall telling my principal that removal of "gun free school zone" signs would prevent just about all shootings. My years in the classroom have taught me that the majority of students who are mentally unstable do fear immediate consequences, although the lefties emphatically deny it. If they believe their control would be taken quickly, they would not likely attempt it.

It is, but, it's the world that we live in.

I believe that enabling those employees in schools who are willing to act as sheepdogs is a good thing. What stunned me, almost to disbelief was the Resource Officer who remained outside the Parkland School as the shooting was occuring.
