It's the law ....only if you were born on or after September 2, 1971 and at least 9 years of age. A one time waiver is available for one year for an extra fee when a hunting license is purchased.

Yeah, looking at the pics I figured he was between 9 and 40... My wife found interest in hunting this year during my elk hunt and is using the waiver.

My understanding is your hunter education permit is good for all states and some states require ALL
hunters to have it (no "grandfather" clause). It would be a sad day to travel to another state to hunt and not be able hunt because you didn't think about it.

There is some good info in the course even for us more mature hunters.

I did not know that some states require all hunters to have it. I have been thinking about taking the instructors course.
