Wow, all this time I thought I was the only one who hid their "piece" under an old towel while at work. Works well to keep the dash clean also. :patriot: :txflag:

Just saw this and thought about something funny. I always carry a bunch of "unnecessary" things in my car. It drives my neat and tidy husband crazy because, to him, it's clutter. Among other things, I like to keep a sweatshirt in the car in the event that the weather changes and I need something warmer. After I got my CHL I used my sweatshirt just like you guys use your towels. I could hide things with it, transport my gun to the trunk or into a building without arousing suspicion, and it was also a backup cover garment if needed.

My husband took the sweatshirt out of the car last spring when we made a road trip to Lubbock to look at housing. I forgot about it, never replaced it, and I haven't needed to disarm in my car since then because I graduated. I forgot about my trusty sweatshirt until last week when I really needed it but didn't have it! I had to disarm to bring my husband something he forgot, and since he IS still in school I couldn't carry on campus. The only open visitor spot was right next to a car with someone sitting in it. I didn't feel comfortable disarming where someone could easily look over and see me, so I ended up driving around the back of a residence hall, parked at the back of the lot, and disarmed there. I grumbled and complained about it to my husband and told him not to touch my sweatshirt again.

Of course, if campus carry was legal then I wouldn't have needed to disarm... but the sweatshirt still comes in handy regardless!

Here's to towels (or sweatshirts), the everyday essentials to CHL holders!

my husband is constantly bringing in my sweater from the car :banghead: I get cold in church and restaurants....if I want it brought in, I'll bring it in.

That hilarious to me. Because I tell my wife she should leave a sweater in the car all the time (she gets cold everywhere) and she refuses. Even brings in ones I put into the car. At least I try to help her.

Worn out towels migrate to the shop and are used for shop, towels, then rags. To cover my gun in the vehicle I don't use a towel, but a red shop rag/towel. But I have bought, leased, rented red cotton shop rags/towels for 45 plus years. I always have a clean one in the seat and in the driver's side pocket and use them to drape over my EDC when I enter the truck and place it between the seats handy to my right hand. Even when we carry an additional truck gun, it is covered with the humble red shop rag.

The funny thing is my wife will go get new shop rags out of the machine shop to carry in her truck for the same purpose. If they get dirty, just put them in the laundry with the other shop towels. Don't wash them with white undies--I KNOW.
