Any fans of Jazz music on the board here? Over the past 7 years or so, it has become one of my favorite genre's of music, and my introduction to it was in a roundabout way. I was always a fan of Brubeck, but that was the extent of my knowledge. Some of the bands I was listening to at the time did some great covers, and I am a cover-a-holic. One of the covers was Footprints by Wayne Shorter. From there, my quest grew and grew. I'm quite picky about what I do like (not a huge Miles Davis fan, though I appreciate some of his work). When I moved to San Antonio and discovered KRTU Jazz Radio, the camels back was broken.
These days, I find myself listening to Freddie Hubbard, Wayne Shorter, Grant Green, Wes Montgomery, Eric Dolphy, Ornette Coleman, and many others.
Here is one of Freddie Hubbard's later songs...with Herbie Hancock and Joe Henderson. The bass line is what drew me to this one as I find myself not liking much of the Blaxploitation Jazz from the 70's.

Re: Jazz fans?
Thanks for the suggestions. I enjoy all types of music. I will have to check them out.pbwalker wrote:Any fans of Jazz music on the board here? BTW, Dave Brubeck Quartet - Take Five is still my favorite jazz album. It originally came out in 1959 and it's still in print!
