What do you remember your parents saying to you as a kid?

#1

Post by longhorn_92 »

I had a fun conversation with my brother about all of the sayings our parents had when we were a kid. Here are just a few:

** You had better wipe that smile off your face before I do it for you.

** Stop your crying before I give you something to cry about.

** Don't put that in your mouth, you don't know where it's been.

** Wipe your feet!

** Look at me when I'm talking to you.

** Don't you look at me like that!

** Did you flush?

** Two wrongs don't make a right.

** Don't talk with your mouth full!

** This hurts me more than it hurts you.

Ha!

What other phrases or sayings can you remember your parents saying to you when you were growing up?...

You want a drink of water? I do. I'm so dry I'm spitting cotton.

Do NOT shoot toward the butane tank! It'll explode like a bomb if you hit it! (I think it was actually LP, but for simplistic sake we called it butane.)

The Minnesota version of this one is "Are you trying to heat up the whole neighborhood?"

When I was a kid we never had air conditioning so it was more along the lines of "close the door, you're letting all of the flies in!"
