LAPD crime scene evidence displayed in Las Vegas.

Larry King's show featured this on Tuesday night, 3/2. He was speaking with
a man from LAPD, who was onsite in Las Vegas with a short term (2 days?)
display of evidence from various high profile Los Angeles crimes.

In Larry's studio were the sister of Sharon Tate, the sister of Ron Goldman
(killed with OJ's wife), a psychologist, and 1 other guest.

The LAPD guy claimed that the department cared for the victims' families and
that the evidence on display did not display anything graphic. Then he showed
the ropes that were used by the Manson gang to tie their victims up, the gun used
to beat, then shoot their victims, and a fork used in the murders.

Most of the victims' family members were never contacted about this and do not approve.

The only family that squawked was the Kennedy family. Some of the RFK crime scene
evidence was withdrawn by LAPD at the family's insistence.

They had what appeared to be a 1957 Ford Fairlane that Manson let Tex Watson drive
to crimes. They had the shot up car from the super big LA bank shootout with the guys
in body armor. They had a crime scene photo of Marilyn Monroe. They have Robert
Blake's handgun (could not see clearly what kind it was - some kind of semi-auto) with
which he allegedly shot his bride. They had the gloves and the knit cap from OJ's trial.

The LAPD put this evidence on display for a short period so that LEO's from other juris-
dictions could learn something. The display may be interesting, but I doubt that some
small town detective is going to learn anything about solving crimes by looking at evidence
from LAPD.
