Happy Thanksgiving!!!!

Just a quiet day with my father, as the wife is 500 miles away with her family this year.

My youngest is helping with the meal - she is 13 and LOVES to cook! Buttermilk and Pumpkin pie made last night along with conrbread for dressing and cranberry relish/salad. Today she has the fruit salad done and the cornish hens are almost completely thawed and will just be seasoned and roasted. Asparagus, fresh green beans, rolls. Just us and my mom this year - kinda enjoying the quiet!

Wishing you all a blessed day!

It is now down to 40º at my house, a drop of over 30º since 6 a.m.! I just got the coals heating up a little bit ago, and the bird will go in the smoker in a few minutes.

(Our town is big on feeding people, we do it at various churches every Monday and Thursday anyway, no need to be impovrished, just a desire to not cook or do dioshes

Happy Thanksgiving to one and all. May the Lord's Bounty fill your stomach and good company restore your soul!
All our girls are in from out of town with the grandbabies and although our middle daughter has a noon commitment we'll all convene about 4:00 PM;, all together for the first time in a year or two. Prior two years have seen us in three different locals on three different days for three dinners. (=10 lbs of girth), anyway good to have all here. God Bless you all!

I just had a nice memory flashback.

Dad and I spent every Thanksgiving together after mom passed.
Usually at Luby's.

One year we were too late for Luby's and went to a Denny's type place that had a Thanksgiving dinner special.
We sat down and the waitress said "Sorry, we ran out of Turkey, so you can't order the Thanksgiving special"
I looked at the menu and asked "Do you still have Turkey sandwiches?" she said yes, I said "Two of those, hold the bread, and two Thanksgiving specials, hold the turkey."
