Dominic joined dozens of children yesterday at the annual Toy Gun Bash in the gymnasium of Pleasant View Elementary School. There, they lined up to toss their toy guns, from dainty purple water guns to camouflage-painted pistols, inside the Bash-O-Matic, a large black, foam creature with churning metal teeth and the shape of a cockroach spliced with a frog.

Prodded by Attorney General Patrick C. Lynch, who wore a fuzzy Santa hat, the children stared curiously as the Bash-O-Matic mashed up their guns and digested them into a plastic bin near its tail.
“He ate it,’’ squealed one delighted little girl.
’Tis the season for joy, peace, and grinding up plastic, orange-tipped AK-47s.

We are training our kids to turn in guns.

We are doing "Socialization" ... preparing our kids for future war, our kids will be planting trees and harvesting whole earth health foods for the ones with the guns.
We WILL be prepared to plant trees, pick flowers, do manual labor in the fields, build roads, and paint peace signs...wait, they may not allow peace signs, freedom of speech ... forget that one, gas expense will be less if we aren't allowed to go to church, but less travel might be good for carbon emissions ...

As intense as that is, I think they made some valid points about raising boys to be strong men. I don't want kids in military training camps (certainly not government ones), but most kids in this country would benefit from some strong male leadership in their lives.


The summer camp I went to as a kid wasn't entirely different in that sense. I didn't realize it at the time, but it was geared to raise strong, independent Texas men. The activities were mostly stuff you could do with the Boy Scouts, or any other similar organization, but a lot of that carries over directly to basic training in the military, and the attitude was to challenge the campers (both by the staff and each other). It wasn't like military training in the way we were challenged, but there was a definite "man up and do it" attitude, wussing out didn't win you any sympathy (not like it would at a boy's summer camp anyways). The campers were even split into two rival tribes that competed with each other in all of the activities of the camp and one tribe would win at the end of the camp session. It wasn't paramilitary at all like this Russian camp, but I think the underlying spirit was similar, in a Texas country boy kind of way. There was a coed session and a girls session, but it was still a very good ole' fashion country kind of camp.

Children and military do not mix very well. Child soldiers will surely upset UN world. Look how they teach that killing the enemy is like killing non-humans. Pretty much worse than terroristic dogma. At the same level as Nazis. I did not finish the whole video, cause in my eyes those kids are too young to be soldiers trained to kill.

At age of 15,16, 17 I can understand that now now we have young men that can be trained in discipline and self-defense.

Our "socialization" used to be Scout Uniforms; I was proud to wear mine to school .... don't really see them any more.

And friends shot .22s at the YMCA, though I did read where some 4H clubs have shootin' classes now

My niece's high school doesn't have ROTC, she never heard of it...

I bet she'd have enjoyed the "bash-o-matic" when she was younger though.

We could have the hardest kids in the world, and the most awesome military in history, however, none of that matters when a nation doesn't have the will, intestinal fortitude, or the leadership to use them properly. We certainly don't, and haven't since 1945.

RPB I like your post on the Russian Boy Scouts. Listening to the Captain, our philosophies are not that far apart. Just different countries. Now the politicians????
