Thank you and God Bless, Major. The jeep driver said,"... you're surrounded by Germans..."
Lt. Winters replied,"...we're paratroopers, we're supposed to be surrounded..."

I never knew the man, other than through his depiction in BoB... But I'm typing this with tears in my eyes.
Thank you Major. Godspeed Sir.

Re: Richard "Dick" Winters dies
Dick Winters is a true American hero. And Band of Brothers is one of the best books I've ever read.
Re: Richard "Dick" Winters dies
WOW! Sorry to hear this. Have read his book and several others surrounding his work/topic. I think we've probably all seen BoB. Rest in Peace Dick!

Several articles have stated that a public memorial is pending.
I would love to pay my respects in person.

Dick Winters was the real deal. I think he might have had more integrity in his pinky finger than many have in their entire being. The consolation for me is, Winters was a Christian man, and I believe that I know where he's gone to. Maybe we'll get to shake his hand some day.

Re: Richard "Dick" Winters dies
RIP Dick Winters.
As he has stated, he does not believe himself to be a hero but he served in a company of heroes.
ETA: I still consider him a hero after his assault on the 88's. Carry on, soldier.

And he didn't seek to be a hero. He just did what had to be done like so many others. He did it so someone else wouldn't have to.
