...read this story yesterday...makes me angry/sad when one rogue paints the whole force...Dallas has had a lot to live down and this is one more...the MAJORITY of the force are hard-working, professional men and women...then this puke trashes the image...heavy jailtime seems in order...

Re: Dallas Police Officer Arrested
You're absolutely right. As a DFW area resident, I am deeply troubled by the number of news stories over the past 4-1/2 years since I've lived here having to do with specifically DPD officers being either arrested or fired for some kind of misconduct or other. I'm not saying that it doesn't happen in other large departments, but before moving here, I was unaccustomed to hearing about it in the news that much. Things had to rise to the level of the Rodney King beating to get that kind of press. I don't know if that's because LAPD has the LA Times by the neck (I doubt it), or because there is actually less of this stuff. I make no claims one way or another. But it does seem like DPD has been tarnished in a big way, and at the end of the day, the buck stops at the police chief's desk. If there really is a higher frequency of law-breaking and corruption among DPD officers, then both the department's hiring practices AND command structure need to be thoroughly examined.Charles L. I really feel bad for the honest line officers and their honest commanders.

I agree. As a former cop I hate nothing more than a dirty cop. 99% of cops are honorable, brave people who risk all their tomorrows for strangers every day.Charles L.
