Picked up a New Vehicle..

Post by snatchel »

Out with the old, in with the new.

I spend most of my work days out on caliche and dirt roads, and the car just wasn't cutting it. I tore off the front air dam the other day...

The wife and I have been thinking about getting something else anyhow. This is what we ended up with:

2012 Toyota 4Runner

It's last years model, but we didn't really care. Brand new, 65 miles. Blizzard White (pearl white), 4x4, leather, etc etc. I got a fantastic deal on it (shocker, since I worked there up till last month lol)

Anyway. if any of y'all have any input on the ATRAC system, i'm all ears. Sounds interesting but it's confusing me on how it actually works, and when I should use it.

No advice on the ATRAC system, but man, that is nice! My wife got a Tundra just before Christmas and loves it.

We are an all Toyota family. I have a tundra and the wife has a highlander. Can't beat the quality.

Yeah, I've been a Toyota fan for a long, long time. I traded in a 06 Sequoia a few years ago for better fuel economy. That Sequoia was a champ.. yes, 16 mpg sucked... but I put close to 200K miles on it with ZERO problems.

Wife has a 03 Corrola. Close to 200K, zero problems.

I got nostalgic and wanted another Toyota. I have been bouncing between an FJ, Tacoma, and 4Runner. After a lot of searching and researching, we just went with the 4Runner.

We are in love with our '12 Highlander limited. It's such a great fit for our growing famiy and handles like a car.

We are moving to Houston in May and after a year or so I'd like to get into a Tundra. Might be a bit longer we intend to pay cash for it.

My 4Runner was the most reliable car I've ever owned.
Gas, oil, tires, wiper blades, air filters. (100K miles with original brakes)

We're a 2-Mazda family currently (3 and CX-9). Good cars, few small repairs (not including some massive hail damage last year :cryin ) but the Toyotas were better. LOVED the roll-down rear window in the 4Runner.

Nice vehicle-congrats. We bought a "Made in Texas- by Texans" Tundra last year. It was, in fact, built just a few miles south of our home in San Antonio, by our neighbors. In fact one of the folks on the assembly line is the son of my boss. So it has a San Antonio tag on it. Pretty cool. This is our third Toyota and I couldn't be happier. Enjoy your new 4Runner.

:patriot:

Even my credit card is GM...has the Chevy Bowtie on it...it's all my wife's fault (she used to work at the GM Shreveport Plant in Quality Engineering). :tiphat:

Not to start a brand war or anything...of course, many foreign makes are now US-built...even Texas built (like filmtex mentioned regarding the Tundra).

I bought a brand new 1968 Toyota Corona in 1968 for $1800 and a new 1969 Corona the next year, to get air conditioning. All my work friends asked, "Whut's that?" I said it's a Toyota, and they said, (again) "Whut's that?" Had two Camrys since.

You didn't sell it to yourself and collect the commission?

Be sure and look hard at the Tundra CrewMax. I think my daughter's entire second grade class could fit into the back seat of my wife's...
