The Battleship Texas was commissioned 100 years on March 12, 2014. There will be a celebration of the commissioning of the old girl on March 15 and a final reunion March 12, 2014.

She's the last of the dreadnought battleships and served in both WWI and WWII. When we were kids we visited many times and climbed all over her. Out to the ends of the large gun barrels and probably many other places that aren't allowed nowadays. Admission was free to get aboard her in those days and the caretaker who we called "Captain" was a client of my dad's vet practice and I have many fond and vivid memories of him showing us around.
