"Do you always carry?"

#1

Post by jimlongley »

I have two pet parrots and like to vary their diet as much as possible. The World Market up the road has a variety of tree nuts, dried fruits, and other things that the parrots really like, so about once a month or so I go up and buy a bunch. Sometimes I will take my harmonicas (who am I kidding, I carry 6 or 8 of them on my all the time) and sit out on the patio enjoying an espresso and putting on an impromptu concert, and other times I will take my Kindle and sit and read for a while after I have shopped.

This trip I had my Kindle tucked under my arm as I went through the checkout with my sacks of seeds and nuts, and the young lady at the next register, in a cheerful attempt at outing me, asked if I always carry. Momentarily confused, I really didn't know what she meant and then I couldn't for the life of me figure out how she saw my gun, I realized she was indicating my Kindle, and thought it was for carrying my gun.

I opened the Kindle and showed her what it was, and she apologized, saying she had thought . . .

And then I told her that yes I always carry, but that she couldn't see it.

But it does give me an idea for that spare Kindle case that I have.

Are you saying she saw the Kindle and thought it some sort of holster for carrying a pistol?

Or...?

Yes, she did. I had it tucked under my arm and when I got to the register, I just shifted it from one place to another instead of putting it on the counter as most people would.

You must have a bigger kindle case that me - I don't think mine will hold a 1911 :-)

Maybe he has the kindle DX. Plenty large enough case for a compact gun larger than your LCP.

Nope, kindle Fire in a normal size case, and you guys are right, I have discovered that my spare Kindle case would not do a good job of hiding much more than a NAA .22 revolver.
