I enjoy this show.
These people live like survivalists without being such.
They're subsistence hunters.
They aren't what if ....fill in the blank happens.
They work hard to survive without drama.
Ever dressed a deer or hog or cleaned a bunch of fish?
I have (and still do) and it's kinda difficult in many different ways.

Re: Life Below Zero
The show brings back a lot of memories of my 11 years flying the Alaska bush. The majority of my time was spent living like Sue, and where she is at the Kavik Camp on the North Slope. I used to know the area like the back of my hand, but memory at may age starts to fade a bit. What I don't miss at all is the weather for flying or living. While a typical Winter day was at or near 40 below, my aircraft (Bell 212) and I got stranded on a Exxon rig for 4 or 5 days because the temps were about 65 below, and the aircraft cutoff for flight was 56 below. The rig had to shut down as the forks on the Cats carrying drill pipe and such were snapping from the cold. Can't say the accommodations and food weren't great though, but in the 80's on most contracts you ate like a king! And no, we didn't have to hunt it down, kill it, and butcher it ourselves like Sue has to I like the show a lot, but always have a strong urge to throw a blanket over myself when watchingAbraham wrote:I enjoy this show.

It's hard to believe anybody who lived like that would cross paths with "Reality TV" producers.

I really enjoy this show and also "Mountain Men" which just started back up. I've only been to Alaska once for a few days, but lived in Montana for almost 2 years. Pretty country, but don't miss the winters! It takes some hardy people to live those lives.
