Good bye old friend

#1

Post by Charles L. Cotton »

It's been a tough year for dogs in the Cotton family. In January, we lost our female Miniature Schnauzer Millie only a few weeks short of her 15th birthday. Today we had to have her buddy, our 14 year old male Miniature Schnauzer put down. He had an aggressive cancer and had gotten to the point that his quality of life was gone. Thankfully, the pain medications kept him from being in pain.

Merlin was hands down the smartest dog we've ever owned or even seen. Martha and I stopped telling people many of the things he did because they were beyond belief. I will say this much, his vocabulary was far larger than I've ever seen in a dog. He was very partial to Martha and it took at least two years before he thought it was okay to associate with me on anything other than an occasional basis. He was a rescue dog and I suspect he had been abused by a man.

Good bye old friend, you were a loyal companion.
Chas.

Very sorry for your loss. I dread the day we have to do the same with our 14 1/2 year old yellow lab. She too has had a couple bouts with cancer.

Sincere condolences on the loss of a cherished companion.

Maybe everyone can give their own an extra pat on the head or treat today. They all deserve it.

Please accept my condolences Charles. It is never easy - we just said goodbye to Purrkins Diesel Cat in July, shortly after his 18th anniversary with us - but each of us has a finite time on this Earth.

Merlin was so very fortunate to have had you, with the strength and courage to let him go when it was time.

May his memory be a blessing.

So sorry for your loss, as you probably know or remember earlier this year I thought I was going to lose one of my loved ones Big Shirley. Losing a beloved pet is just like losing a part of the family, again so sorry and prayers to you

It's tough to lose a good friend much less two. Sorry. I would believe everything you said about your dogs; my brother had one and it was just amazing.
