Storms in Ellis, Johnson, Dallas, Collin counties

Post by n5wd »

Looks like several different spots of the DFW Metroplex has been hit by a multitude of storms, tonight, including several tornadoes with fatalities, and many more injured on the Eastern side of the Metroplex.

Hope all of the forum members remain safe and secure, with thoughts directed towards the less fortunate.

Edited @ 2213 CST -total death count = 8-10 (Garland and cokeville)

Is everyone ok? Does anyone need any help?

We were right in the middle of it, but didn't see/hear any tornadoes...

In my lifetime, I've experienced 2 separate tornadoes coming through my yard.

Once in high school, that went on to damage the grocery store I worked in across the street and the other merely knocked out some trees in my back yard.

Both sounded like freight trains.

Just got home from helping a friend that lost hi house. We moved everything he could salvage to a storage facility. It was pure devistation in the neighborhood.
FYI, he had to come to the entrance to get me in as the LEO's not allowing anyone in without id

Spent the afternoon in Rowlett helping with damage assessment, with our local CERT team. My first time seeing F4 tornado destruction up close. Truly awful.

Praying for all those affected.

I visited a brother in law from Rowlett yesterday. We met for dinner at BJs in Town East Mall, Mesquite. Parted ways, he and his family home to Rowlett, my wife and I into the mall for some shopping. He got home just before the EF4 storm hit the neighborhood 2 streets over from his home. No damage to his home, luckily.

Wife and I were locked inside the mall. They rounded everyone in JCP into their safe room (break room), where we were kept for approximately an hour. On the 2nd floor of the mall, you could feel the rumble and sway of the floor. Very eerie feeling.
