US Navy live testing laser in Persian Gulf
From the article:
"During a test, a weapon can automatically zero in on a target.
'We don't have to lead a target,' Lt. Hughes said.
'We're doing that engagement at the speed of light so it really is a point and shoot - we see it, we focus on it, and we can negate that target.'
As soon as the laser makes contact with a drone, the vehicle heats to a temperature of more than 1,000°F (537°C) and explodes."

They could test it on Somali Pirates, before moving off the coast of North Korea, and blast everything that leaves the ground at a high rate of speed. Sort of like a fireworks show.

Interesting choice of testing zones. Usually live fire testing is done in much more controlled sea spaces with less chances of civilian or other countries' naval vessels accidentally being struck.
The left lies about everything. Truth is a liberal value, and truth is a conservative value, but it has never been a left-wing value. People on the left say whatever advances their immediate agenda. Power is their moral lodestar; therefore, truth is always subservient to it. - Dennis Prager

I'm sure it's for the benefit of any of our friendly neighborhood Middle Eastern countries, so they may hesitate, before sending suicide bombers in small boats alongside our ships. JMHO

Maybe they need to deploy it near CNN to knock down the constant drones of "Russia, Russia, Russia."Beiruty wrote:Bye Bye drones.
