Need help picking out another rifle

Post by Vol Texan »

Ok, this one's not going to be mine, it'll be for my 5-year old daughter. She hasn't outgrown her Cricket just yet, but I think she'd enjoy some variety at the range.

If I were to describe it, it would have a combination of the following descriptors:
  • AR
  • .22 Caliber
  • Pink (pink cammo or solid pink, either one)
  • Left-handed
  • (optional) Hello Kitty
Whatcha think...any idea where I could start looking for this?

Building is an option, but I'm wondering if the combination of lefty / .22 / pink is even possible. I don't know much about ARs, much less one in .22.

Were it not for the lefty requirement, I would suggest the M&P 15-22 plus paint/duracoat and decals.

I am thinking a 10/22 with a pink Hogue stock.

She already has a 22, so something else would be good. You and her together build an AR-15 in 5.56. The AR Lower can be the base for future builds in other calibers as she grows and possibly gains more interest.

IMHO, .223/5.56 or something larger than .22lr is still too big for a 5y old. Not only that, but I think there are very few options that a 5y old will be able to reach the trigger on it while holding in the proper position.

There are many options to get the pink in an M&P 15-22, but unfortunately, I don't think lefty is one of them.

I ever come across one of those pink M&P 15-22's and have the money to get it at the same time I probably will get it for my own daughter and then commandeer the all black one she already has for myself.

Build pink AR together & put a .22 conversion in it? That way when she moves up she already has the rifle in.223/5.56 :) I have no idea if any of the .22 conversions out there would work for a lefty model or not though.

Another option for if she might happen to like something a bit more old school is a lever action in .357 Mag. I really like my 16" stainless Rossi. When shooting light .38 Special it is barely a step up from a .22 but has the potential to use heavy .357 Magnum rounds.
