Mossberg 590 for $199

#1

Post by ml1209 »

I stopped in this pawn shop today for a quick looksee, and the only thing that caught my eye from their meager selection was a black shotgun with extended mag tube. I saw the price tag of $199 and I thought it's probably a Maverick 88. If I'm lucky it'll be a Mossberg 500.

Upon looking at the bottom of the receiver, I see the word Mossberg and the numbers 590 and 12 ga.

I couldn't say "I'll take it!" fast enough. I put it on layaway. It was in excellent condition, 20" barrel, heat shield.

Looks just like this.

What's funny is that I saw a black Winchester 1300 shotgun at another pawn shop in Houston and they were asking $900 for it. :smilelol5:

Good deal i picked up my lightly used Moss 500 for $150 with a pistol grip. I have yet to be disappointed by it.

What's the difference between the 500 and 590? I'm just curious. I already have a Winchester 1300 that I've had for several years, so I'm not in the market. I just don't know much about Mossberg's. I have however heard, that they're pretty decent and apparently just passed some pretty serious military trials.

The 590s have 8+1 capacity standard and an aluminum trigger guard / assembly (instead of the plastic one on the 500). They may also be factory equipped with a heat shield, sling swivels, bayonet lug, ghost ring sights, collapsing stock, etc. The can be had in blue, parkerized or marine (nickel) finishes. The Mil Spec model is in current use by the US Army, USMC and Air Force. They have an aluminum receiver but the bolt to barrel lockup is all steel. The current issue of Gun Tests has a test of one model, which they downgraded because of the poorly done collapsing stock.
