AK for reliability and engagement below 100yrds. AK74s are the modernized AKs. AR has better accuracy and lighter to carry around. Surprisingly, East germany AKs were super light. Its stock, grip and handguard were straight hardened plastic. None of those were designed as DMRs.

The proper answer to "which to buy?" is "all three" of course.

AKs and ARs are plentiful . Either way you wont be disappointed. Get the one that speaks to you...
