Yeah I really like the look of it with the shorter barrel.

Re: Shortened FAL
As someone who carried a version of that rifle through much of my military career I would be interested to know, did he have to alter any of the mechanicals - gas block, regulator etc to allow for pressure changes with a shorter barrel?

Re: Shortened FAL
Basically, what you've got there is my SCAR 17's grandfather.
We should get a side-by-side picture of both rifles, suppressors mounted, just to compare. One thing though, my suppressor which fits that SCAR is a 10" long unit, and not the 7" or 7.5" like yours.

Re: Shortened FAL
Andy - Do you buy FN FAL's that are pre-1989 import ban? Or are there US made versions out there? The same thing comes to mind with FN FNC's. I know I missed the boat in getting a FN FNC full auto back in around 2002 when they were going for around $5K, but even then then they were all pre-1986 converted sear guns...and the lack of replacement parts was an issue.AndyC wrote:Got my FAL back from Andrew at Atwell Tactical in Richardson this evening; I'd asked him to chop the barrel down to 17.5"
He does nice work.
Same goes for HK91 (G3) guns. I wish I bought one in 1987 when my buddy got one, but after Bush 1 banned import in 1989 the became almost as rare as full autos.

Re: Shortened FAL
Nice. I'd have to check, but I THINK mine is 18". Works great. Kinda like the best of the long and shorter barrels DSA makes.
Cheers!
