Traveling to Arkansas and Missouri

#1

Post by puma guy »

We're traveling to Arkansas and Missouri soon and I know both honor Texas CHL. I was trying to wade through the statutes and thought I'd go to the experts here. Just wondering if there are any special requirements and what is required if stopped by LEO. I assume following Texas protocol would suffice, but since both my wife and myself would be carrying while driving is there anything we should be aware of. Also, is it OK to have the weapon in a glove box or console rather than concealed in a holster or purse while diving? Any locations to avoid while doing the tourist thing? Thanks for any help, especially from the Razorbacks and Show Me folks.

Police interaction in AR should be what you're used to here. If you stop to eat signage prevents carry:
"Any place at the discretion of the person or entity exercising control over the physical location, by displaying a written notice "clearly readable" at a distance of not less than ten feet, and posted at each entrance to the location, stating that "carrying a handgun is prohibited." Section 5-73-306(19)(A). A written notice is not required for private homes, and any licensee entering a private home must notify the occupants that he or she is carrying a concealed handgun."
Life is tough, but it's tougher when you're stupid.

This website provides a quick summary of state gun laws throughout the US

http://www.handgunlaw.us/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I look at the states I'm going to be traveling through every time I travel. Just click on the state on the map.

Have a good read of AR and MO before you go. Pull it up as needed if you have any questions.
Keep calm and carry.

If visiting state parks, you may want to read about that also. If I recall right, concealed isn't allowed in the administrative offices (which should be posted)... The website link above is great.

For what it's worth, my folks live in NW Arkansas and it's right on the border with Missouri. I have yet to see any kind of gun buster sign in the smaller towns.
