Murder Rate by Victim Race - 2010 (murders per 100,000)
White - 3.5
Black - 16.4
Other race / Unknown - 1.2
Total - 4.8

Murder Rate by Offender Race - 2010 (murders per 100,000)
White - 3.2
Black - 17.8
Other race / Unknown - 1.4
Total - 4.8

Also, for everyone who talks about how the US is so violent compared to other countries, this is from the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, Intentional homicide, count and rate per 100,000 population (1995 - 2011)

When people talk about how violent the United States is, we are really like two different countries co-existing in the same geography. The White US murders people at a rate comparable to the overall rate in Europe. The Black US murders people at a rate comparable to the overall rate in Africa. The numbers are what they are.

While black on black violence in Sub-Saharan Africa is heinous by any measure, Don't forget that the larger portion of the continent, with a larger population base is Arabic. And much of that violence is Arab/Muslim factions directed at Black/Tribal/Christian minorities.

The point I was making the overall differences by race, and I don't really care that much about trying to parse out the subregions of Africa or determine the source of the murders there anymore than I was addressing the rates in the US by state, or metropolitan size, age of perpetrator, or other sub-demographics.
