Teacher Looking for Pro-2A Speaker

#1

Post by blwarren »

Good afternoon everyone,

A friend of mine who teaches in a private secondary school in Southwest Houston just outside the 610 loop asked me if I knew anyone who would be willing to come speak at her school in support of gun rights. The students are going to be attending the "March for our Lives" rally in D.C. and she wanted to provide the kids with both sides of the argument in the process, which I think should be commended.

She reached out to me because I'm an NRA member. I thought about directing her to the NRA-ILA Speakers Bureau, but I wasn't sure how efficient that would be compared to reaching out here.

I would imagine they're not just looking for someone who happens to be an NRA member (otherwise, I would offer) but instead they may want someone who has some official connection either to the NRA, TSRA or some affiliated group.

The event in D.C. is on March 24th, so it sounds like they're looking for someone in the next couple of weeks. I wanted to go ahead and reach out here to get some ideas while they look at possible dates and times.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Best regards,

Bobby Warren

Based on past behavior by public schools and the DNC steno pool, I would be concerned about walking into an ambush.

Good luck.

I think it's worth re-emphasizing that this is a private school. I can't speak for certain regarding the ideology of those who run the school, but the constituency that traditionally attends the school tends to be split pretty evenly in the Houston area. I'd rather not identify the school by name in this forum to avoid any media attention at the moment.

Why don't you do it?

You can probably do a whole lot better than Rubio did on CNN the other day.

If I can't find someone, I may do it myself. But I thought it would be more appropriate to find someone who has maybe done this in the past. I may also put the teacher in touch with the NRA Speaker Bureau, but I'm not sure how quickly they could make arrangements.

Mr. Cotton would be perfect for this, if he has time.

That’s who I would suggest. I’d get ahold of him right away if I were you.

Would the speaker have to pay expenses?

Considering travel and lodging costs...?

If so, wouldn't being a speaker be rather costly?

Not trying to throw cold water on a good idea, but if expenses are up to the speaker to pay...the reality of such things must be considered.

I'm on the NRA Speakers Bureau and I do a lot of public speaking. The 24th is our IDPA match weekend, but I'll miss it to speak.

Please let me know ASAP is you want me to speak.

VolTexan is also in the area, and his daughter has a very positive outlook on the 2A
Not trying to put anyone under the gun( no pun intended) but there are several members in the Houston area, who have the elequence, to give a positive spin, on something that the left wing, MSM has tried to decimate.
Good luck! I have been speaking with my local school district board members, regarding the possibility, of a volunteer, security team, as well as allowing LTC holding teachers, and other employees, being allowed to carry at schools.

I'd like to attend to listen or get a podcast or something.
