It is sad that leftists will ignore that fact and focus in on the one off whack job that shoots up a gun free school. They have gotten to where they don't even talk about the crimes committed by people with already illegal guns. Since most of the crime with illegal guns is in the black community of the inner big cities, it would be racist to talk about.

This is why I don't believe it is about crime but instead about total power and control.

Well, this was a Trump administration hire, and I believe we can look for it to be very quickly reversed after Joe Bidenharris takes office. There won't be anything remotely pro-gun in or around the White House during the next four years. If you can stomach reading the links (and always use a VPN, like I do) you can have a look at what our dear friends on the opposite side of this issue have to say about it:

Brady Shares Opposition to DOJ’s Hire of Ideologically-Driven John Lott
https://www.bradyunited.org/press-relea ... e-jon-lott
"John Lott has made a career of thinly veiled disinformation, propaganda, and outright lies masquerading as fact — something with which our nation has become all too familiar. It is sad, but unsurprising that he has joined the Trump Administration in its final days. President-Elect Biden ran and won on a strong gun violence prevention platform. Lott’s 'research' and proposed faux solutions are antithetical to data, science, fact — and to the will of the American people seeking change."
Everytown Statement on Trump Justice Department Hiring Widely Discredited Anti-Gun Safety Researcher to Key Position
https://momsdemandaction.org/everytown- ... -position/
“Putting John Lott in a position of power at DOJ to protect public safety is like putting an arsonist in charge of the fire department,” said Nick Suplina, managing director for law and policy at Everytown for Gun Safety. “It would be laughable if it wasn’t such a dangerous move that could have serious consequences for gun safety. This is one more mess the highly competent Biden team will have to clean up – hopefully before Lott can do irreversible damage.”
Discredited pro-gun researcher John Lott Jr. hired at Department of Justice
https://www.mediamatters.org/john-lott/ ... -justice-0
"Discredited pro-gun researcher and right-wing media favorite John Lott Jr. has been hired at the Justice Department despite a career of manipulating statistics about gun violence, presenting allegedly fraudulent data, and suffering repeated ethics scandals."
And of course if you do a search for John Lott limiting the results to the past month, you'll find that none of our other dear friends in the mainstream media picked up on the story of his hiring. Oh, it's mentioned in the Arizona Capitol Times and the Anchorage Daily Planet, but crickets from any of the big national hacks or networks. At least the Washington Examiner didn't ignore it.
