Taking into account suggestions from other aviation experts, Chen says the vertical dive entry would have caused the wings to break off almost immediately at the surface. But the wings and other heavy debris would have sunk to the bottom of the ocean, leaving no trace of the airplane crash site for search teams to find.
So all the fuel and hydraulic connections between the wings and fuselage would somehow seal themselves up to prevent any sort of oil slick on the surface?
If it was out of fuel, only the hydraulics would leak, and that slick would be like a needle in a haystack. (I am not saying this story is true. Just that the likelihood of a large slick might be lower than one would think.)

Interesting. Would that number "BB670" on the piece of wreckage be some kind of a part# or something? I know bupkis about building aircraft, but it would seem a smart idea to record component part #s when building a plane against just such an event as this.

I believe all the parts are serialed so that they can identify wreckage and track parts for recall and service life and such. I think.

Fox News reporting that FAA has a high degree of probably that the wing piece is from a 777.

The part was found near Madagascar which was not part of the "arc" the search was concentrated in.

I'll look further for a news story.

Looks to me like a piece of a control surface, flap, spoiler, or maybe a winglet - although I don't think winglets have an airfoil but I might be wrong. Small parts are serialized but I think you'd have to identify a large structure from the numbers on the components inside it.

There is quite a bit of oil in the engines, but again that slick would have broken up quite quickly.

Old story now sounds interesting.

This would be on a flight path from Indonesia to Madagascar near where the wreckage turned up.

Luggage found on beach near wing.

Read somewhere else that the underwater search still continues near Western Australia.

Shepard Smith just confirmed the part is from a 777 and there is only one of those missing in the world.

FBI recovered erased data points from hard drive on home flight simulator that match suspected route plane took.

My only problem is I have lost a lot of confidence in anyone in the government to speak the truth. After all anytime the evidence collected by the government that points to a lone wolf, it makes the case come to a convenient end.

So many things can float if the plane has crashed in the ocean unless it has landed intact on the water, then, the sonar could have found its signature very easily. I think the possibility that it was landed somewhere cannot be eliminated, but Why?
Maybe Aliens abduct the airplane for experimentations. "rlol" "rlol" "rlol"
