they ran off all the police due to policies of not charging crimes and going after the police instead. so police left in droves and now they realize OH DODDOOODD ooooo we dont have any police left.

In this case, the article is misleading. She shot a person, so the firearm use is evidence in a criminal investigation. The police did the only thing they can, which is to impound the evidence.

And before you all think the criminal investigation is against her, remember that the man shot was breaking in. The investigation is probably focusing on him, but the firearm is still evidence in the case.
