How long is CHL-100 form good?

I've been looking all over for this answer in the statutes, in DPS' FAQs section and can't seem to find it.

How long is a CHL-100 Certificate of Handgun Proficiency good for? 99.9% of students have a probably already completed their application or will do so soon after taking your class, but for that small minority who wants to take the class then "think about it some more" (have actually had this scenario come up already) how long do they have to apply before DPS will no longer accept the CHL-100? If you can site relevant statute or whatever that would be very helpful.

Thanks. ...

Two years for an initial applicant, six months for a renewal.

Thanks Charles. Is this in the statutes somewhere and I'm just missing it? Or is this a DPS administrative rule?

It's a DPS administrative rule.

The initial CHL-100 is good for two years while renewals are good only for 6 months. The application has to be in the DPS Office in Austin by the deadline.
