(Really, I'm asking. All I know about him is that he left the Republican party in a scandal that was big enough to make him resign then, but apparently isn't anything important now.)
That was long ago, before Clinton and Team and set the bar much lower.
The Democrats have redefined "Scandalous"
If memory serves me correct newt's indiscretions were at the same time of Clintons impeachment proceedings where he was pushing harder than anyone, so while Democrats may have redefined scandalous the Republicans have redefined hypocrisy and continue to do so(i.e. pro-lifers who support the death penalty etc etc etc)

Thread hijacking....

I take issue with this. There is no hypocrisy in being pro-life and pro-death penalty. Let me see if I can explain the difference to you.

Pro-life: Believing that an innocent, unborn child should not be summarily executed.
Pro-death penalty: Believing that people who have murdered others should be prevented from ever doing so again.

Both are preserving the lives of INNOCENT people.

*Sorry folks. I couldn't let such foolishness pass unanswered.

:iagree:

Not to mention the fact that Newt didn't perjure himself nor was he the POTUS. Not that I'm defending his own indiscretions mind you.

Who was going to be Newt's running mate? Wiener or Schwarzenegger?

Nobody ever wants to talk to the PAN, even though it's the PAN that makes delicious omlettes. Poor, lonely PAN... :biggrinjester:

Yeah, there is very big speculation that this may be part of it. Apparently there are some close ties back to Perry from several Newt's now former staffers.
