Post by x007x »

Hello everyone. I am in the Houston area and wondering if anyone knows where a good store is to buy 5.56/.223 400count ammo crates? I see Academy sells the 420 bullets for $180.00

Try Walmart - last night I bought 2 420 round cases of 5.56 M855 on stripper clips in a .30 cal can for $159.00 each. Just checked Walmarts site - 9 area stores showing limited stock - sku # is UPC: 0002946556378.
These are the green tip penetrator rounds 62 grain made by federal.

That's a good price. Unfortunately, I've never seen this at any of the Walmarts in my area that I get to. I'll have to keep my eye out for this when I get a bit out of my normal area.

If you can wait for it, luckygunner.com has good prices on .233 ammo.
They list PMC 55 grain FMJ at $350 for 1000 rds. Add about $20 for shipping.

The last week is the first time I've seen it. I've had to ask for it - they keep it in the back.

While it might be tempting to get the 420 packs, it may not be the most cost effective option.

You can find an ammo can at most gunshows for $5-10.

At Wal Mart the every day price of Tula .233 ammo is only $4.97per 20 round box. That is only about $105 for 420 rounds. If you can use the steel case ammo, that is a pretty good deal. This is not the lacquer coated stuff, as I recall, but make sure before you purchase. Great practice ammo in my Mini-14

Again, the WalMart Tula 223 for 4.97 works out to only 248.50/1000. Hard to find a better price right now.

I was going to say that Ammunition to Go in Brenham has Prvi Partizan for $79.95/200 right now. But WalMart's a much better deal.

Not all of my rifles will eat steel ammo, so that's not an option for me.

The wal-mart ammo comes on stripper clips in a steel ammo can.

I generally pay $340-$360 for 1000 rds of XM193 at any local gun show.
