Tone down the rhetoric

#1

Post by Charles L. Cotton »

Recent political events are disturbing and understandably result in highly emotional posts and threads. Over the last several days, I've seen personal attacks and comments like we would not have suffered had it not been for the recent slaughter of children and the predictable response from liberals supporting expanded gun control.

It's going to stop now. I don't care how long anyone has been a Forum Member, or how many posts they have to their credit. Gun owners are in for the biggest fight we've ever had and personal attacks and radical comments not only violate our rules, they aid those who are calling for additional gun control measures. This warning is also for those who clearly want to bait someone into making such comments; that won't be tolerated either.

The Forum is a great resource because of the respect that we show all Members and questions. We will not allow its reputation to be harmed by people who cannot comply with Forum Rules.

:iagree: The heated rhetoric and vitriolic behavior from anyone on our side will only hurt the cause of protecting our 2A rights. It emboldens and empowers the other side and is just making things worse. To borrow part of the phrase of Apollo 13 Flight Director Gene Kranz speaking to the flight controllers when Apollo 13 had the explosion on board: "Settle down. Let’s work the problem, people. Let’s not make things worse..."

I think we should all focus on contacting congress, media, etc. to get our voices heard instead of fighting on here. And not just in Texas. Everywhere! A loss anywhere can have a negative impact for all of us gun owners.

Piers Morgan hasn't done us any favors on the Piers Morgan show.

Cranked up rhetoric makes us feel better. Like cursing it gives us a vent, however it is seldom persuasive and makes us look bad to those who don't understand the issue.
