Re: IDPA Divisions & Pistols

Hi Charles,

You show DA/SA Sigs as being ESP. They can certainly be used in that Division, but most of us would use them in SSP.

That DA/SA is considered "Double Action" for this purpose is shown in 8.2.1.2.1 of the rule book.

Well that didn't last long. I just got back from the Academy in Webster. They'd sold out of the rifle and pistol primers.

Re: Sig 22 LR Magazine Capacity

I've been pleased with this follower in my P226. It allows the magazine to hold 12 rounds, and it holds the slide back after the last shot.

Re: Internet "Beat Down" Videos

While I don't feel obliged to get involved in every fight, or defend the contents of a business's cash register, I hope I would be willing to intervene to keep a helpless woman from being beaten to death. Trust your instincts, and don't spend too much time worrying about lawyers or what if situation...

Re: Property Defense in West TX Question

My brother-in-law used to keep a travel trailer on his hunting lease in West Texas. Illegals broke a window to get entry. It must have been a regular stop on their route. Unless you're able to do a real good job with your physical security, I'd suggest you just leave the door unlocked. It will avoid...

Re: Does anyone compete with a carry gun

I competed in IDPA for a couple of years with a Sig P239 in 357 Sig. I eventually felt the need for a higher capacity magazine, and acquired a P226. Now I almost always carry the P226. It's a little heavier, but I've decided if I ever need a gun, I'll want plenty of gun. And with the right holster a...

Re: Minotaur MTAC won't let go of my Kimber

I've had that problem with all my leather holsters, including the Minotaur, which is less than half leather. I've learned to treat a new holster by spraying the pistol with gun oil (I use Breakfree CLP), inserting it into the holster, and letting it sit overnight. I repeat the process the next eveni...

Re: IDPA

If you're able to find an Airsoft replica of the pistol you'll be competing with, it will fit in your holster. You can paint the appropriate white dots on the sights with model airplane paint or fingernail polish if necessary. Then find a picture of the IDPA target, showing the perforations, on the ...

Re: Got Sig? <<< Poll

You've got P226 listed twice. It got my vote. It's got a great trigger pull in both double and single action. In 9 mm it can hold up to 17 rounds in Mecgar magazines. By changing the slide, barrel, recoil spring, and magazine I can reconfigure mine between .22 LR, 9mm, and .357 Sig. If I ever get ar...

Re: Sig Sauer P6

I got one. I'm glad I did. It's a nice little pistol, especially for the price. Mine had a lot of holster wear, which I tried to remedy with a cold blue kit. But the insides were in great shape. I guess most police pistols are carried a lot but fired little. It's been totally reliable for me. I've u...

Re: Legal Question - How far away is too far?

Regarding the case of being threatened by a handgun, if you have any reasonable chance of using yours for defense, wouldn't an assailant be a threat? About the 21 foot rule, that drill was based on the defender standing still, starting with his pistol in the holster. If he had a chance to pull and p...

Re: hotel safety deposit box

I used a hotel safety deposit box for the first time a few weeks ago. It was the kind they keep at the front desk. It worked a lot like the one at a bank. They assured me I had the only key. After filling out some paper work, they gave me the box, and acted like they expected me to put whatever in i...
