Re: ID Requests from Law Enforcement

My own thoughts: You can be detained if there is reasonable articulable suspicion that a crime has been committed, is being committed, or is about to be committed. You can be arrested if there is probable cause that you have committed a crime. It's possible that a detention that takes longer than is...

Re: Is a club considered "deadly force"?

There are clear cut differences in the law between "force" and "deadly force" and specific code pertaining to when each can and can't be used. Using a gun or knife, for example, is considered using "deadly force," even if you just point it at a person. Not totally corr...

Re: Traffic stop in Houston

In Texas, if the front of your car has crossed the white road line at an intersection when the light is yellow, you are legal and should not get a ticket.

Re: Academy asking unnecessary questions

I see this is no different than when the police stop you and play 100 questions. I believe I need to answer only what is necessary for that stop. BTW, you don't have to answer ANY questions at a police stop. You can remain totally silent if you wish. You only have to present your DL and proof of in...

Re: Work truck bed organization

I would recommend you take a look at a Swingcase in person. And, while you're at the store, let them show you what side toolboxes will fit your truck. What city are you in?

Re: Work truck bed organization

The type of toolbox that you have that sits on the floor is referred to as a "chest box". I don't know how much stuff you carry in your toolbox, but one option is the Undercover Swingcase. You can install one on one side of the bed or both sides of the bed. They lock into place (with a loc...

Re: State Fair

From what I remember from several years ago, what's going on at the State Fair (SF) today is sort of a "gentleman's agreement". They will allow only conceal carry if there is no outside challenge to their 30.07 sign which according to the AG's opinion letter, is probably unenforceable. Kee...

Re: Suppressor's

I think it's going to happen that suppressors will be removed from the NFA. Now that the SCOTUS has ruled that 2A cases must use text, history, and tradition scrutiny, it's likely that requiring a tax stamp and registering (a suppressor) with the ATF violates the 2nd amendment.

Re: Supreme Court strikes down NY gun law

Well, then I see a conflict between the 2nd amendment and the 5th amendment: Do I have the right to protect myself on your property?

Re: Supreme Court strikes down NY gun law

This case sets precedent that courts hearing 2A cases should use Text, History, and Tradition (THT) scrutiny and not use Strict or Intermediate scrutiny. This is HUGE because the liberal courts have been using Intermediate scrutiny to decide cases which (basically) allows the courts to rule however ...

Re: Signage dilemma

Just my opinion, but I would do the right thing. I would first have a conversation with the manager. If that didn't work, I would report them to TABC.

Re: TX: Lubbock potential self defense death occurs

I disagree with manslaughter, I think it's murder because the shooter willfully and knowingly caused death of another (without self defense).

A verbal threat of violence with the ability to carry out the violence is "assault".

Lubbock Shooting, Self Defense?

I say that's not self defense and the shooter is in trouble. What you say?

Re: Carrying a knife for self defense? What works best

I took a 2-day knife class with Steve Tarani. Everyone with folders, including myself, could draw under 2.0 seconds. However, that was under class conditions where you're knowingly practicing drawing. In real-life conditions, I doubt we would be under 2.0 seconds. I have a KABAR TDI Investigator kni...
