He should sign SB273 in front of the 30.06 sign at Austin City Hall, HB910 in front of Acevado's office at APD Headquarters, and SB11 on the steps of the UT tower building.

Or would that be spiking the football?

I believe the bill specifically states they cannot create a defacto ban.
True that. Because this is stated in the bill (as opposed to the legislative intent), could the courts also use this as a basis if a student feels they have been effectively banned?

To the House tomorrow. Session begins at 2:00pm.

Any reason to believe it will not make it out of the house?
Only the idea that Strauss doesn't want it, and may allow it to slide on the calendar until it becomes too late?

Charles,

I've been nursing a back injury for the last few days...so I've not had the chance to join in on all the "Thank you" notes being sent to you.

We do appreciate all you do for the cause of the 2nd Amendment, and how you always have our back. I hope to be able to join you for one of the Houston breakfast meetings to thank you in-person...if we get one over here on the west side that doesn't conflict with my work schedule!

Sen Huffman did a great job propping this up, reminding them that CHL is already legal on campus.

Re: SB11 & HB910 This week....

So...the community colleges are not covered by this law until after then NEXT legislative session is over?

I'll take anything we can get...and I'm willing to wait a bit longer, if need be.

Side topic:

Garcia thinks guns and kids are not a good mix. Good thing this bill only applies to ADULT CHL holders. (At least Birdwell called her out on it.)

IMO, schools and daycare are among the most important places where I want licensed CHL's to carry.

As long as I've been on this site I have never noticed a thread get to one hundred pages. That goal is within our grasp now! I suggest that before the clock runs out tomorrow night we band together to achieve that milestone!

C'mon, CHL'ers, we can do it!!

It will if you have a CHL. Otherwise there will be no change in the MPA.
It will allow the weapon to be in sight in a shoulder or belt holster of a CHL holder, but not loose on the seat, tucked in the seat, attached to a holster on the steering column, etc. .

Not sure where the ability to Opt out comes from but there was nothing in the Bill that granted that ability. Think you should find a better place to get your rumors.....
Sig-sog, Please let me rephrase Salty1's response to you:

Welcome to the best forum on guns and CHL on the entire web. I see that this is your first post here, and I hope you'll join in on the discussion often. I want to tell you from personal experience that the folks on here are as generous with help and as friendly as possible, and you'll learn tons just from reading - and even more by posting as you did.

To answer your question...that was one of the earlier amendments a few months ago. Actually, there were a pair of amendments, one got approved, but it was only an amendment to another amendment that was tabled. So..to sum it up, there is no opt out provision in this bill anymore.

Thanks for joining in to the discussion!

What is Hoffman's amendment?????
Making unlicensed carry a 2nd degree felony. She pulled it.
