Re: Old Registration Sticker pull over

You have until the 5th day of the month following the expiration month to renew a car tag or inspection sticker. A citation for either can be dismissed by the court if corrected within 60 days but there is a $10 dismissal fee.

Re: HB 972 -Not enough votes?

No. My opinion on a citizens right to carry a weapon: In 1791, when the 2nd passed, they had pistols, rifles, muskets and cannon. If the founders wanted to restrict our right to bear in any way, they would have written "the right to keep and bear arms, except cannon". They didn't. Over the course of...

Re: HB 972 -Not enough votes?

I suspect most of these professors are in the same category I am in. Taking a chance with weapons on campus and being able to defend yourself over being seriously injured is a no brainer. But they can't see that. Sometimes, you can be too "smart" for your own good. What chance would that be? The ca...

Re: HB 972 -Not enough votes?

I am an adjunct for a local college (2 year) and always have a few students in class that are just out of prison or on probation or parole. I had a confrontation with one last year that was being disruptive in class. Now, I don't know what he would have done if he had been armed, but he was under 21...

Wasn't Holder up to his ears in the Waco killing of those kids and others in that compound?

Re: HB48: Passed

The shooting part of the current requirement just shows you have the ability to control a firearm in a non-defensive environment to the point of being 70% accurate with your weapon. In a defensive situation, the average citizen is going to lose accuracy due to stress, lighting conditions and other e...

Re: Arms Training Approved for Teachers

"Immediate reach" is going to be impossible to accomplish when you have a stationery location and a mobile "Marshall" that works with students. "Works with students" is a very broad definition and will eventually require a court case to define. The schools will be better off going with full time law...

Re: Arms Training Approved for Teachers

This bill was not good. It created a new class of peace officer called a School Marshall. But they can't carry a weapon if they are with students. That makes them useless in an active shooter situation. "Excuse me while I go get my weapon out of that box over there". Also, one per 400 students. The ...

Re: Are HB 508 and SB 1907 the Main Sausage Left

What I see from the Texas Legislature Online is both these bills passed both the House and Senate and are in roue to the Governor. I am not reading this correctly?

Re: Austin police chief's Twitter controversy

Most bigger city police chief's are politicians first and peace officers second. They were, in some cases, ones who couldn't function well on the street, were never on the street, or forgot what it was like to be on the street. They say and do whatever is politically correct and most are very libera...

ChuckyBrown, thank you. I didn't want to sound like I was patting myself on the back. I just never saw any other way to operate. I am a TCLEOSE instructor and have taught many classes on Penal Code, CCP, Racial Profiling, Asset Forfieture and other subjects. A police officer should never issue a cit...

Re: Pulled over by DPS Trooper on I-10, CHL but not carrying

After 35 years in law enforcement, I can safely say I never gave anyone a ticket. They had to earn it. For 30 of those 35 years (the first five are not considered), I can safely say I never wrote a citation because I was mad. I always had my mind made up when I initiated the stop. There were times I...

Re: Running Serial Numbers of weapons of CHL holders.

Mr. Allen, my diatribe was totally tongue-n-cheek. You really hit the nail on the head. PC is the missing ingredient. My opinion, there is no more PC to run the serial number on a weapon legally in your possession and with no direct involvement in the original reason for detention than it would be t...

Re: Running Serial Numbers of weapons of CHL holders.

I would say that if the LEO is uncomfortable with anyone they have official contact with being armed, they should disarm the person. That will lessen the possiblity of someone doing something stupid and lessen the tension. Now, I understand your implied comment. Yes, it is partly professional courte...
