Re: Need a Red Flag Law for Astronauts?

I wonder what state has jurisdiction for crimes committed aboard a space station? And since it is an international station, what country does?

Re: LTC Class and Test in Spanish

I think it is an interesting marketing question. I know of no law or official policy stopping or encouraging any licensed LTC instructor from conducting the class in Spanish. I doubt that there are any statistics available on how many instructors speak any languages other than English. If any instru...

Re: Wisdom from Robert Heinlein

I have no problem with that idea in principle, so long as allowances are made for legitimate reasons. Otherwise, it’s unjust. I never served in the military, but I’m now in my late 60s. So if we converted over to a literal interpretation of this system, I’d lose my rights. I’m not down with that . ...

Re: Wisdom from Robert Heinlein

This thread certainly warms my heart. Heinlein is my favorite author and I have done my best to read everything he has ever written. I got hooked on him with his juvenile books while I was in elementary school. Starship Troopers was always one of my favorite books, along with Stranger in a Strange L...

Re: Medicare- The Health Care Standard Everyone Should Have

This is one of my biggest worries. I retire in about three years and will have to go on medicare then. I don't have a real choice in the supplemental plan because I will get it from the state as part of my retirement. I have not heard any bad stories from retired state workers yet, but it is still b...

Then please, by all means, tell us all EXACTLY what to do. Do not speak in boilerplate phrases, or offer traditional platitudes. Tell us EXACTLY what specific items we as individuals can do to fix the problem. You can do any of several things. The two biggest steps that you, as an individual, can t...

I'm also waffling on the Level IIIa rating, and wondering if it will be sufficient. I follow school shootings closely. They are going more toward rifle use. I think this may be a false image create by the media. The current bias in the media reporting is targeting AR type rifles and trying to make ...

Re: Officer shoots carjacker dead in Harris county

If the BG had survived the attack on the K9 he would have been charged with assault on a Peace Officer! By Texas Law a Police dog or horse is considered a Police Officer and the charges are the same! I think the BG should have been shot! This is interesting, especially since officers can and do sho...

Re: Is it just us?

It’s not just this forum. Most forums on the web are made up of an overwhelming majority of men. Most gun clubs in real life are also mostly male. Between these two things, it might be more of a surprise that we have enough active females to keep a women's section going than the lack of women in th...

Re: Did the Russians affect your vote?

To be fair, I have to say that I don't know if the Russians affected my vote or not. It is highly possible that they did. Well, that is if the stories are true about how the Russians "meddled" in our election. The accusation is that the Russians were trying to cause confusion by posting multiple sto...

Re: Potential Move to Austin

I live in Luling and work in the capital area. It is about a 75 minute commute each way. I would recommend looking at Lockhart, in Caldwell county. It is a small rural town with a population of around 15,000. The costs are low, especially compared to Austin. It is growing and they are starting to ge...

Re: Universal background check

You do realize that sex toys previously were illegal in Texas. Not sure but they may still be illegal. Technically, they are not illegal for individuals to own, just illegal to promote. But possession of six of them is proof of possession with intent to promote. Penal Code section 43.23, Obscenity.

Re: Lawsuit argues AR-15 illegal

This is one of our biggest threats, unforeseen consequences and lawsuits. By accepting the bumpstock ban without fighting it as hard as we can, we set up a potential argument that ARs are easily convertible to machine guns without machining. I can certainly see the argument, even if I disagree with ...

Re: Pistol found

Glad you found everything finally. Make sure you notify the police that they were found. The pistol, especially if you gave them the serial number, is entered into NCIC/TCIC computers as being lost and it could cause you some trouble if you are ever run with it.
