Re: Laser for M&P

I second Crimson Trace.

I find it to be most useful for training and dry firing applications than anything else.

Re: Recommendations for Pocket Carry in Jeans?

I find pocket carry to be the worst. We have not really had any one reliably and successfully access and present during any reactive stressful simulations with a pocket carry. The closest is the classic "Oh let me slowly reach for my wallet, but its really my gun!" and even then its only i...

Re: Lasers?

Open sights. I do wonder though now with lasers and RMR red dots becoming more affordable and common if this will some day change. I think it might bring in more ladies. Why? Because women don't see as well? I'm probably going to dig myself a grave here and open a can of worms on myself. But I have...

Weapon Accessing Under Attack - Arlington, TX - 01/24/2015

One of if not the most important thing is being able to access and deploy your weapon (firearm or knife) in order to truly be "in the fight". On Saturday January 24th from 2pm to 5pm we will be exploring the realities of accessing and presenting your firearms while under a knife attack: WE...

Re: TX Gun Range (between Mansfied and Midlothian)

Im mostly surprised that the domain TxGunRange.com was available.

Though no drawing, no movement, no personal targets, no loose or baggy clothes (uh huh), one shot per second, but they are pretty cheep. Maybe next time I'm in the area ill have to swing by and drop them my CHL instructor card lol.

Re: Self Defense Practice at an Indoor Range

It wont be easy. It sounds like you can't draw, move, or shoot fast and all three of those are pretty important to self defense practice. I would recommend finding a different range and get very accustomed to dry firing. One of those SRTs or a decent airsoft for your backyard would be a good idea as...

Re: New to Texas, but not CHL.

Mike, Thanks for the response, getting in and out of my truck is one of the main concerns I have with IWB carry. It gets old having to ride with the pistol holstered and it's almost just as annoying having to disarm every time I get in my truck. Maybe look into a better holster set up? I'm appendix...

Not to bad. That Zhukov-S might be a nice addition to my collection.

Usually, if its working, the DPS website will tell you of any updates to your application just like the initial. That is if i am remember correctly.

Re: Example/Sample CHL Written Exams?

A lot of people sweat the test, other than your standard badly written question test double talk its pretty simple and straight forward.
Though I do miss some of the more humorous questions from the old test.

Re: Good CCW Shirts?

If im going with a plain cotton shirt i try and pick up a long version if available so it doesn't feel to baggy everywhere else. But I primary carry appendix so shirts are not that big of a problem as long as they are not to form fitting.

Re: ATF Policy on "handgun" stabilizing braces.

I remember at least Sigs first braces looked like it was designed to stick a hand through them as well as not looking all that comfortable to shoulder. Some of these later designs from different groups try to mimic the original SBR look that I figured it was only a matter of time before someone ruin...

Re: Airsoft with the kid... Gear?

Training with airsoft is great. The problem is the training / gaming mentality. Meaning if you go out there and treat your gear as if they are real and you work as if it was real then you will get in some great training. If you treat them as a toy then you will get toy training. Both are fun, just h...
