Seems like the City of Houston will go to any lengths to protect Art Acevedo, doesn't it? I guess when you're a hard-core gun control advocate, whatever you do is okay...
Keep in mind that Comrade Art is no longer there. He moved down to Florida somewhere IIRC. Also keep in mind that I've been having trouble remembering correctly a lot of random stuff lately.
Could Acevedo still be named in a civil suit?

I think the whole house of cards fell because a couple of officers were seriously wounded during the execution of the search warrant. That led to the discovery that the warrant was obtained because one of the officers perjured himself. If none of the officers had been wounded, and only the homeowners killed, none of this would have seen the light of day until much later, if ever.
Had Goins not been shot by friendly fire, he would have been able to plant the drugs he had in his car in the house and it would have been big news that evening at 6 pm.
I guess I missed it, but will Goins be standing trial for his involvement in this deadly fiasco?
Goines has been charged with two counts of murder and well as charges of tampering with documents.
He also has been indicted on several Federal charges.

Ogg: Case involving George Floyd was among Goines cases being reviewed by prosecutors
A 16-year-old drug case involving George Floyd was among the hundreds of cases connected to ex-Houston police
Officer Gerald Goines that are being reviewed by prosecutors, according to Harris County District Attorney Kim Ogg.

Speaking to Khambrel Marshall during an interview that will air on Sunday’s edition of Houston Newsmakers, Ogg
said that Floyd, a Houston native who died while being detained by police in Minnesota on Memorial Day, was
convicted by Goines as part of a single-witness drug case in 2004.

I'll simply agree with you because how I really feel about the guy isn't for polite company. He was horrible in Austin, and worse in Houston.

I'm telling y'all, this whole dirty mess reminds me of the Denzel Washington movie "Training Day", about dirty cops in LA.

That's because despite the amount of time he has spent in Texas, Art Acevedo is still a gun-control-loving Californian at heart.

(Please note, I'm not saying all Californians love gun control, just that he is one who does.)

WOW! The more I hear about that Officer Goines, the more I think about a movie called "Training Day" from 2001 where Denzel Washington plays the role of a very dirty police detective.

Re: 5 Officers Shot In Houston - Pray

So, two people were killed by police officers during a drug raid that now appears to be completely false on the circumstances of it, yet no involvement by the Rangers in the investigation.

Out here in flyover country, I guess things work differently: http://www.kswo.com/2019/03/12/deceased ... ng-quanah/

Re: 5 Officers Shot In Houston - Pray

My goodness, what does it take to get the Rangers involved to do a proper investigation of those events? Yes, I know the scene is all messed up by now, it's been quite a while gone by. But, they could at least review all the documents, interview everyone, get all the crime scene photos, etc, and try to make some sense out of this mess. The whole thing stinks unbearably, and whatever comes of this, it shouldn't ever be repeated in Texas.

Is 1 gram very much?

Attorney familiar with drug operations said he would have expected to find scales and unused baggies if it was a drug operation.
Found this on the 'Net, not sure exactly how old the info is, so take it for what it's worth, but still, kind of indicative.
The smallest amount of cocaine you can typically buy on the streets is half a gram. This can run anywhere from $20-50 USD. A single gram of cocaine costs between $50-150 USD. Again, prices vary by purity, location, and mood of the dealer.
