Re: Mom doesn't like guns
My parents don't particularly care that I'm carrying. My mother-in-law (with whom I have a wonderful relationship starting well before any interest in her son crossed my mind) has respectfully requested that we not carry inside their house, and we respectfully abide by her request. We knew that was ...

Re: Parking Ticket Help- City of Fort Worth
I have already admonished her (well as much as she would let me) for letting the vehicle leave with plates, but my question is this. In Texas, the plates are "part of the vehicle". They transfer to the new owner together with the registration sticker on the window. The only time a plate d...

Re: Dog shot at Houston Dog Park
The last thing she expected was the other woman to get her gun back. "We can't have that kind of lawlessness in our public parks," said the woman who illegally had her dog off-leash in a public park. Fixed it for them. Somehow they missed the irony. To be clear, I don't think it's open se...

Re: Citizen's Police Academy - carry or not?
Personally, I'd just ask. They know you have a CHL, so its not like you're going to fly under the radar and you might as well cultivate some goodwill. If you don't like the answer, say so (politely). Whoever you're talking to may agree with you and be able to point to the next person up the line you...

Re: Got my annexation letter today
I don't know all the details because I was a teenager, but we got annexed... or the first some number of meters back from the road did; the rest of the property was still unincorporated. When we moved away years later we were still on a well and a sewer, but I think they brought a water line along t...

Re: Campus Crime Alerts : Baylor
As a Baylor alumna (sic 'em, Bears!), I can also tell you that Baylor PD is or at least was a joke. When I called them out because someone had broken into and tried to hot wire and steal my car on campus, they declined to attempt fingerprints because "you can't get prints off of cars."

Re: Waco negligent discharge
This is a perfect example of why we need to eliminate as many off-limits locations as possible. Having to take your firearm off and on or in and out of a holster discretely so no one sees you is just an accident waiting to happen. I would argue it is a perfect example of why journalists need to use...

Re: Lethal Lace: Another Promising Option for Ladies
I don't think I'd be comfortable with it personally, but I'm very conservative about how I carry. I'd be worried about retention, or fastening the clips wrong (or to a part of the fabric that doesn't offer the support needed), or getting something caught in a layer of fabric. Reholstering would be t...

Re: [Austin] APD: Homeowner shoots, kills intruder
If you open the provided link in an earlier post, (kxan.com link) some of the comments are outlandish. How so? Many are defending the intruder. While I didn't take the time to count, I'd say those supporting the defending homeowner and those supporting the intruder are roughly about 50/50. But then...

I see now. The video and the printed article barely even seem like the stories about the same incident. :banghead: As someone with a professional journalism background, I can assure you that the writers at KVUE are embarrassingly illiterate, not to mention disinclined to fact-check before publishin...

Re: Police Chief Shoots Wife
{snip} And happier yet if I could set it on the floor under the edge of the bed, or in a night-table drawer. Anything but cocked-and-locked and pointed who knows where, please! I think the last thing I'd want to be doing, upon being awakened from a deep slumber by an intruder, would be to wonder wh...

Re: Speeding in Allen TX
(I didn't say it, but I was thinking the "business side" probably had more to do with needing revenue to pay for that fancy new stadium.) If it's any consolation, the school district budget is completely separate from the city budget in every city/school district I've ever known and I'd b...

Re: Breaking: politician lies to get votes!
I am pretty the majority of individuals on this forum knew Wendy was lying about her R2KBA position. I can't put into words on this forum what I really think about Wendy Davis. I remember rolling my eyes and thinking there was no way I'd trust her to stick with with a pro-gun stance after the elect...

Breaking: politician lies to get votes!
Had to laugh when I saw this story: http://www.kvue.com/story/news/politics/2014/12/30/wendy-davis-regrets-campaign-stance-on-open-carry/21041343/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Apparently Wendy Davis regrets saying she supported second amendment rights, because what she sa...
