Re: Legal classification of stock-less rifle?

I think that nails it. I only looked at the federal laws when I was reading. I guess Texas has it explicitly covered, but the Feds don't. Those to-the-inch laws are crazy to begin with, but the unintended consequences are laughable. To think that I commit a felony in the process of cleaning a rifle....

Legal classification of stock-less rifle?

I bought my first rifle a few weeks ago, a Remington 597. After disassembling it for the first time, it occurred to me that after removing the stock I still had a fully functional, if not ergonomic, firearm. In that state, it no longer meets the federal definition of a rifle since it can't be fired ...

I know Bullet Trap won't do it because I've asked them. They couldn't recommend anyone, either.

Ramifications for LEO marrying felon?

My brother-in-law spent the better part of his twenties in prison for one thing or another. He's in his mid-thirties now and living straight as far as I can tell. He has been dating a young lady (21 y.o.) for a few weeks now, and they've decided they are going to get married next spring. This young ...

Re: Texas State Fair 2008

I went today with the wife, kids, and some of the in-laws. I had told the wife what to expect at the gate and that I would go in last so as not to draw too much attention to myself. I had my gun on my right hip, spare mag on the left. When we got to the gate, I got in a different line than the rest ...

Re: multi-state vacation

Reciprocity is great, isn't it? We took a trip up to South Dakota (Mount Rushmore) last summer. I did the same kind of pre-planning you did, and it made the trip worry-free. I printed out a cheat sheet for each state that I kept in the door pocket in the truck. We took the circuitous route through C...

Still not posted as of this past week.

I didn't go onto the Lexington, so I'm not aware of its status.

As well as carrying with one in the chamber, you might consider leaving it loaded all the time... might need it at home, too.

Re: At what age did you become a CHL holder ?

I got mine at 31, a few months after learning to shoot. I think I had been aware of CHL for a long time, but was indifferent to it. After learning to shoot, I kind of came to the conclusion that it was irresponsible of me to not take advantage of CHL and be "ultimately prepared" for the sa...

I sure would like to, but I've learned from other people's accounts of work experiences on this forum to keep my gunnin' to myself at work.

Actually nobody has asked about it yet. I guess a little bit of extra ugly isn't too noticeable.

Always wear a hat!!!

I was at the Bullet Trap today shooting my XD9 and trying out my new Bersa .380 CC. I had made a conscious decision to not wear a hat, even knowing that I should. I won't make that mistake again. Everything was going fine, until one of the .380's casings ejected, ricocheted off the lane partition, t...

Re: Have you been "caught" carring by staff personnel?

In fact, a couple of times I've walked into businesses whose sole raison d'etre is selling wine by the glass and who probably ought to have 51% signs up but don't. One in particular has "Winery" on their sign, which for every other "Winery" in town means they sell wine by the bo...

Is the clip on that phone holster big enough to securely latch onto your gun belt? All that I've been able to find have either been too short, or not allowed enough depth for the thickness of the belt.
