Re: October Application

Just FYI, when I spoke with the lady at DPS CHL, she indicated that they have had a very LARGE influx of CHL applications and that things were taking longer than normal. She also indicated that a mass mailing occurred on Friday, so hopefully there are a whole lot more licenses on the way.

Re: October Application

Well, I called DPS again for the forth time in 3 weeks. Asked to speak with a Supervisor and was told they would call me back today. The lady handling my license called me and told me that she was sorry for the delays and they she had put my plastic in the mail this morning. Just waiting for the pla...

Re: October Application

OK, I have put my flame suit on because I know I am an ID.10.T for waiting so long. So here it is. I took the class back in Spring 2007. I mailed my packet to Austin and it was received October 17. Got my PIN today, November 17. Signed in to the DPS website to check status and it says "No appli...

Thanks for all the replies. I will have to sit down and really think about which option I want to pursue. I'm not too old - only 40, but already breaking down due to disease. I do prefer to shoot with the same glasses that I wear daily, since there would be time to change glasses if an incident aris...

Thanks for the quick input guys. I should have said that my cataract surgery was about 6 years ago, so the Crystal Lens implants weren't fully tested and ready at the time. I think I will have to get new glasses with the lined bi-focal instead of the progressive and at the same time have the line ra...

Cataracts, Progressive Bi-Focals and Shooting

Hi Everyone, I am in need of some direction/advice. I love shooting my Glock 22, but due to Glaucoma, Diabetes and other factors, I developed cataracts that had to be removed. Since the cataracts were removed, they replace the lens of your eyes with a fixed focus artificial lens. This means I am now...

I would not want to be the test case for this one either. For me, I would have to play it safe on this one and not carry.

Also, understand that I do not have my CHL yet, so I am only saying what I would do.

Thanks for the welcome. The Wing is one fine bike. The only thing it needs now is for it's rider to get his CHL! It has everything else - XM Satelitte Radio, Backrest, Armrest, CB, GPS, Intercom, Cruise..... Hmmmm, I know the Glock 22 won't fit in the fairing pocket, maybe the Glock 23 will....

I was out riding my motorcycle on Wednesday night and one of the largest Bobcats I have ever seen crossed the road in front of the bike. He just strolled along and neven paid me any attention at all - surprising since my GoldWing has some pretty high intensity lights.

This was in Mesquite.
