Re: Joe Straus Letter in the Dallas News

I got the same tripe in my email yesterday as well. I usually hit 'delete', but this one I read - and then hit 'unsubscribe' afterward. Don't know how I got on that idiot's list anyway... If you answered his survey on legislative priorities for his last term as Speaker, you probably wound up on his...

Re: Dems threaten SCOTUS over upcoming 2A case

Liberal Justices Are Still Notching Victories Despite Conservative Supreme Court UCLA law professor Eugene Volokh styled Justice Neil Gorsuch the “crossover sensation” of the court’s 2017-2018 term. The justice played to type again this year, joining his liberal colleagues to form a 5-4 majority in...

Re: News Reports of Texas Gun Laws Taking Effect 9/1/19

All three of these articles just show A) How convoluted the law was as it was written - carrying a handgun in a place of worship was already legal unless the licensee was given effective notice under 30.06/7. To know this you had to read the whole of TPC 46.035 and get to section i. B) What poor rea...

It’s so over for Europe.
And the USA is soon to follow if we cannot control our borders or remove those that have come into the country illegally.

Re: Florida Sheriff: ‘If You Need to Shoot Somebody, Shoot ’em a Lot’

This may be misinterpreted by people in a bad way. If you empty say 16 rounds into someone even though let's say there's video evidence of him attacking you with a knife. Even if you have stab wounds the D.A. will no matter what try his hardest for Death Penalty. Due to what's called "Over Kill". I...

Re: Can I find out if an individual has a LTC

With the neighbor himself. Otherwise none that I'm aware of as DPS is prohibited from supplying that information on individuals to anyone but law enforcement (if you are pulled over, when your DL is run, it will show you have an LTC.)

The first thing a company should tell their employees is that CITIZENS are allowed to carry their weapons at all times. Enough of this stupid nonsense.
Sorry. I couldn't resist. Badges don't grant special privileges.
In the eyes of Texas law, they do.

Re: Kay Jewelers store manager no longer employed after keeping on-duty deputy from picking up ring

Kay's and all the other places that post 30.06/7 signs and then try to prohibit peace officers from carrying will have the likelihood of an expensive education if HB 2164 is signed: https://capitol.texas.gov/BillLookup/History.aspx?LegSess=86R&Bill=HB2164 An establishment serving the public that vio...

Re: Kay Jewelers store manager no longer employed after keeping on-duty deputy from picking up ring

I don't know all the details from the article but it sounds like the manager may have been following Kay policy. It was an easy scapegoat to fire the manager after a social media notation. So Kay Jewelers has an anti-gun policy, the manager follows orders and gets fired. Kay Jewelers then looks goo...

Re: PA Supreme Court - Concealed carry is not RAS of a crime

The case is the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania vs. Michael J. Hicks, decided on 5/31/19. The opinion can be downloaded from here https://law.justia.com/cases/pennsylvania/supreme-court/2019/56-map-2017.html . I note a few things: - It follows many other jurisdictions and the SCOTUS in that it decline...

Re: 2019 Firearms Related Bills That Made it to Governor Abbott

Hmmm.... As I understand it, it doesn't matter whether there's a sign or not; if you receive verbal or written notice, you have to leave, period. Still, can an LEO walk up and ask if you're carrying a weapon, based solely on noticing a slight bulge under your shirt? Seems like that would be illegal...
