Re: Malaysia Airlines Flight Vanishes

I don't know Malaysian security requirements, but in US carriers, a pilot is not allowed to leave the flight deck until a flight attendant (or other crew) comes in to watch the door. Then when that pilot returns, the flight attendant verifies who it is and lets them in. The other pilot is not allowe...

Re: Short trip ideas

The Strand in Galveston is wheelchair friendly.

Arkansas National Wildlife Refuge has a circuit drive (don't have to get out of the car) and IIRC, the viewing spots were wheelchair accessible.

Re: IL: PIGS FLY IN CHICAGO!

I've carried concealed legally in the Chicago area, never encountered a place where I couldn't carry. Of course I never had cause to use public transportation or go into govt building's, schools, etc. And I never saw a private business posted. True, IL has more restrictions than Texas, but they have...

Re: DIY mailboxes vs. thieves

Check local ordinances - my Uncle and his neighbors had the baseball bat bashing problem in Indiana. One neighbor got fed up and reinstalled with an I-beam concreted in the ground. The teens wrecked their car on it, and successfully sued for damages, because the installation was deemed illegal by lo...

I went Sam's Club today they just prohibit unlicensed firearms.

That's probably the required TABC Blue sign for package alcohol sales.

Sam’s Club WiFi blocking gun forums

Sitting in Sam’s Club waiting for tires. Tried using their free WiFi and it says server not responding. Tried multiple gun web sites with the same results. So I switched to my cellular data and everything is working. Sam’s is not posted at all (although I’ve never OCed here), so I’m surprised of thi...

Re: Off The Beaten Path - Calvert, TX

Calvert is also a notorious speed trap for folks traveling SH6 between Waco and College Station, not exactly off the beaten path. The city limits signs are way out of town and set the 55MPH limit signs coming from 75MPH. Many folks get nailed speeding up too early, or not slowing down quickly enough...

Re: Africa: In case you were thinking of visiting

Just got back from Uganda today, mission trip in the north at a vocational school. Had a great experience and made some great friends. Depending on where you go, you have to be prepared to rough it, protect from mosquitoes. Otherwise it’s a beautiful country and nice people.

Re: Firearm in vehicle at work

The problem will be that it will be hard to prove wrongful termination since Texas is an “at will” state. They don’t have to give any reason for firing you. The parking lot law only protects you from prosecution for trespass, or other prosecution. IANAL.
