Re: Cody Wilson charged in sexual assault of minor

Solicitation of a prostitute is a crime just as sex with a minor(16) is a crime for an adult(30?). If this guy is guilty of one or both of these crimes then he needs to be punished. With that out of the way this story just isn't passing the sniff test. Consider that at this point it is a very conven...

Re: Words to engrave

When I had a rifle engraved, all I could find was laser engraving. I hear that, finding a good engraver is hard, fortunately I have a friend. Bobby Tyler of Tyler Gun works (on the cover of the current Brownells catalog) has access to multiple engravers and he can refinish the part(s) afterwards. O...

Re: Words to engrave

I know you mentioned laser engraving, however have you considered having it actually engraved into the metal using more traditional methods? I know of at least one shop here in Texas that uses several very skilled engravers and can refinish the slide afterwards.

Re: Do not shoot truck rustlers

Based on the story, the 'victims' previous charges, and such I wonder if a claim of self defense or defense of property can be made as it looks like he may have been committing a criminal act himself (solicitation of a prostitute).

Re: Thoughts on open carry

Are there documented incidents in Houston where open carrying citizens have been targeted by bad guys during robbery? Or is multiple bad guys robbing a business the new M.O. there? Everyone's situation is different. If its the criminals in Houston have gotten better at recognizing that citizens may...

Re: Can Beto O’Rourke really beat Ted Cruz?

I think a lot of people are afraid to show support, or even state their position when asked by pollsters, due to fear of ANTIFA and their like. I know three people who say they are supporting Beto to people they do not know but are very open of their support for Cruz when in private and they will te...

Re: Hams: How about a TexasCHLForum net?

https://texaschlforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=83&t=89084&p=1154746 Charles talked about doing exactly that. I mentioned as much in the OP, although I was referring to where he said as much in a different thread. My current antenna plans for a base station are on hold as I am now planning to buy a house...

Hams: How about a TexasCHLForum net?

I was thinking about something Charles said in my 'Someone push me' thread and each day it just seems like a better and better idea. How about we try to plan/schedule a net for Forum members? I'm just throwing this out there to see if there are enough people interested in it. I really see only one w...

Re: Device Lets Smartphone Users Scan For Concealed Firearms

If you could lead people to believe that with a small tweak this could detect illegal immigrants it would be banned in gun-phobic states in a heartbeat. New market niche: jammers. Considering the fact that it has facial recognition software you could tie it into the federal 'Real ID' database and i...

Re: Growing Demand for CHL On The Rise

I suspect the main factor in the statistics for police committing more crimes than license holders is due to a number of factors. First is the fact that there are far fewer officers, so each time an officer is convicted of a crime it has far more weight from a statistical point of view. All other f...

Re: Growing Demand for CHL On The Rise

permit holders are convicted of misdemeanor and felonies at one-sixth the rate at which police officers are convicted." You hear a statistic like this pretty often, and I don't doubt that it's true. But today, it occurred to me to wonder, why it is the case? It's easy to understand that permit hold...

Re: Stolen Airplane... just crashed after a joy ride

I was wrong when I typed that the aircraft used an internal combustion engine, but going lean can still do damage (it's just almost impossible for it to occur to a significant degree). This is what happens when I post without thinking things through or researching. If you have someone who (based on ...

Re: Stolen Airplane... shut down, not crashed.

While I do hold an airman's certificate of sorts (Remote Pilot) I am not really qualified to discuss the aviation aspects of the plane crashing or being shot down. I do know that internal combustion engines do not like to go lean, and considering the aircraft was prop driven you can safely assume it...

Re: Hallsville parent arrested after bringing gun to junior high campus

They didn't say if she was carrying into a building or just on the property, you could have a case of a LEO not knowing or understanding the law (specifically the definition of premises) and making the arrest based on bad knowledge. I know of one local instance where a traffic stop pulled into a sch...
