Re: Bonnen will not seek re-election
Sounds like somebody "made him an offer he couldn't refuse". :woohoo Just hope this turns out better than when Straus stepped down.... Well, maybe the rest of the GOP caucus will figure it out too. THEY voted for both Strauss and Bonnen. Surely they can do better. Is there a supermajority...

I read the post title and immediately thought that the ATF was up to something idiotic once again

Re: 2017 Special Session called
Not entirely surprising given the lack of action accomplished by the lege this year (some may see that as a good thing). However, this article on the texas tribune doesn't seem to indicate that the Governor has his sights set on any pro-gun legislation, either https://www.texastribune.org/2017/06/06...

Re: Double Stack .45
I regularly carry an FNX-45. Double stack, 15+1 capacity. Has a rail for attachments if that's your cup of tea. They are making the FNX-45 tactical which also makes a nice range/competition gun because it has space for an RMR milled out directly on the slide. But you can't really conceal carry an FN...

Re: Obamacare Fines For Not Signing On
I have had several tax preparers and a CPA tell me that they just automatically assume that someone who has earned income has health insurance and they just check the box that says the filer had health insurance....I'm not advocating lying on the 1040, that's just what they have said. The IRS has ne...

Re: Waiting for Campus Carry...
I decided to have some t-shirts made for myself and my wife especially for the occasion. We are going to go to the UT-Austin campus and hopefully do some advocacy, awareness, and outreach work.

Re: conceal carry at church fundraiser?
When I first posted that the guy saying no guns appeared to have the authority, I was basing it on the statement in the OP that "the guy in charge" called him to ask for help. He has since clarified that the person was not the organizer of the event or an officer of the church in any way....

That's about how it feels when I have to go down to the DPS/Drivers license office. I see a waiting room full of people praying for death.

Re: conceal carry at church fundraiser?
Unless the church already has a TABC license, which seems unlikely, they will be getting a temporary permit from TABC for the event days only. IN most cases, temporary permits are sent as 51% permits because most charities selling beer make most of their money from the beer. Not all, but most. It w...

conceal carry at church fundraiser?
Hey everyone, So in the not-to-distant future, my church (catholic) is holding its annual picnic/festival/fundraiser. I am part of a church organization that helps out with the cooking of the food, arranging the entertainment etc. Now, this church is located in the diocese of Austin which doesn't ha...

Re: Changes in the "Look" of the Plastic - 2011-2016
By the way, I never did see an "NSA" license. I didn't have to shoot when I got my original license as I qualified yearly with the USAF with an M-9, and didn't go to the range after the academic portion of my class ended. Don't remember if anyone there brought a revolver with them. Anyone...
