WRT the Ranger T, I've read a few reports about them not expanding consistently. Here is a recent thread:

Re: Legal Carry on College Campuses
Update: My proposal is on the agenda for discussion at this Friday's Faculty Association meeting. After discussing the process with the president of our association, the proposal will be introduced and discussed at this Friday's meeting, then a committee will be formed to research this issue and rep...

Re: DPS drops M&P
FWIW, the Bushmasters are general issue for patrol vehicles (w/ Eotech sights). The Rangers get LaRue tactical.

Re: Vest as Cover Garment
I used to live in Hawai'i, so I have a few nice Aloha shirts and a few cheapos. I still kind of think of them as somewhere in between formal wear and casual wear. In Hawai'i, they're formal wear. Bankers wear them to work, as do most business professionals. My first week in Hawai'i I was invited to ...

Re: Self healing targets
I don't think my range would allow a shooter to set up their own steel targets. I think these self healing targets would be ok. I'm going to check before using them of course. My range won't allow steel targets to be set up but they had no issue with these. I don't think you can compare this to a s...

Re: Vest as Cover Garment
I like the 5.11 vests. They are a bit too heavy, but they are really convenient. I carry a lot of stuff and I like all the pockets and I have never had the sense that anyone was giving me a second look. I always figured that anyone who knew what the vest was, would know about CHL laws so it would n...

Re: Self healing targets
Slightly off topic, but I highly recommend spending a little extra $$ on a steel target based on my experience with both kinds. A good steel target will last virtually for ever (well, maybe not forever, but at least for most if not all of the lifetime of the user). One might need to repair or replac...

Re: 45ACP muzzle flash
So the question still stands: what are the best 230gr rounds that are low flash? Like I originally said, the hornady CD rounds are great, but only come in 180-somethings. I want to use the original 230gr NON +P. This is what the 45ACP was designed around and what I want to use. As others have menti...

Re: Vest as Cover Garment
After reading all these posts about vests I'm going to get one. I've heard that wearing Hawaiian shirts scream "I'm armed" and I have lots of those I wear quite often. Now I will have a vest too. Maybe I'll wear them at the same time! "rlol" Ancient Budha say, "LIke the anc...

Re: Vest as Cover Garment
Thanks, all, for the feedback. With regards to the comments about an added layer and heat in the brutal Texas Summer, what got me thinking about this was the recommendation that I wear a t-shirt between my holster and skin. http://www.texaschlforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=71989 Wearing a t-shir...

Re: Pictures Of Your Daily Carry
The Commander length 1911s are much more reliable than the compact and sub-compact models. That said, I'm not sure how much benefit a 3/4" shorter barrel and slide are compared to the loss in velocity. I'm average height (5'8" - 170lbs) and have no problem carrying a full size 1911. P.S. N...

Re: Torx Screws - Why?
I've never had a Torx screwdriver slip and scratch anything. I can't say the same thing about flat or Phillips screws. Torx is the best of both worlds. They just don't slip, in my experience. YMMV :iagree: :iagree: Me too. Phillips head strip to easliy and slotted---well they just aren't worth anyt...

Re: Self healing targets
I bought one of the self sealing targets a couple of Summers ago (the Big Gong Show). As you mentioned, hollow points aren't recommended. It works better with my pistol with my rifle, though, because at longer ranges I can't really tell if I hit the target or not (it doesn't swing when I hit it with...
