If you still have it, I'll take it.

Re: Other states CHL
Yes, but if you have an out-of-state CHL, I can see how the notification of the state could fall through the cracks -- something that is unlikely to happen if you have a in-state CHL.

Re: Other states CHL
I wasn't aware that Nevada had added Texas. I went to the Nevada site and they definitely state that the Texas CHL is now allowed. It seems that they started recognizing Texas as of just a few days ago (7/1/2016).

Re: Why did the legislators even *care* what the police think about a law
Lots of reasons. The LEOs are mostly responsible professionals, experienced in many practical issues. They have organization(s) that lobby, raise money, influence voters. Legislators are constitutionally averse to alienating voters, and those who might influence voters, unnecessarily. You never kno...

They probably look to them as the experts in the field and believe their opinions are worth consideration. Foolish them then... Might as well ask the guy who washes cars how cars should be designed... The path to restoration of our constitutional rights should not be dependent upon how convenient i...

Re: Why did the legislators even *care* what the police think about a law
The Lege may or may not always follow what the LEO community wants, but they would be remiss if they didn't at least consider the LEO's views. But why should the legislature even *care* what the LEOs want? The LEOs don't have any power to do anything if the legislature does something they don't lik...

Why did the legislators even *care* what the police think about a law
Why did the legislators even *care* what the police think about a law? http://www.foxnews.com/us/2016/01/01/open-carry-law-takes-effect-in-texas-but-activists-keep-fighting.html?intcmp=hpbt2 The original bill included a "no-stop" provision barring police from demanding to see the license o...

I'm of the belief that what the government doesn't know, probably can't hurt you. Volunteer information? Nope, not likely...Richbirdhunter wrote: I've wondered that too, are you obligated to share all of your CHL's?

Re: Other states CHL
Nevada does not recognize the Texas CHL, so I got it the last time I needed to renew instead of the Texas one. I then learned that the Nevada one does not count as a substitute for the NICS check when you are buying a gun through a FFL holder. I seldom do that, so it's only a minor inconvenience. I'...

They should have all been tarred and feathered.
Back then, it was the Republicans that were the liberals. The Democrats did not want change, which makes them conservative. :) Funny how things have swapped.

Re: Texas' Open Carry Concerns
The problem here in Texas is that we've lived under the yoke of Yankee oppression for so long that people who *claim* to be pro-2nd-Amendment actually think that "some" infringements upon our natural right to bear arms is acceptable. What part of "SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED" is so ha...

Re: Sonic & Chili's: Leave your guns at home
You can make the case that the framers of the Constitution intended the Second Amendment to be the only FEDERAL gun law, but they never intended for the Constitution to restrict state governments. I fully support the incorporation of the Bill of Rights, but we have to be careful about making inaccu...

Re: Sonic & Chili's: Leave your guns at home
In any true compromise, both sides give a little, and both sides get a little. Rather than eschewing the word "compromise" altogether, we need to focus on ensuring that our get outweighs our give. Our ultimate goal should be the re-establishment of the intentions of the Founding Fathers w...

Re: Sonic & Chili's: Leave your guns at home
Off the top of my head, here are a few compromises that constituted huge gains for gun owners. 1. Texas's CHL law: Twenty years ago, one side wanted citizen to be able to carry handguns for personal protection, and the other side wanted to maintain the status quo in which only trained, vetted, comm...
