HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) -- One teen is dead and another is in critical condition after an attempted robbery in north Harris County, officials said.
According to officials, Precinct 4 deputies were called at about 5 p.m. on Sunday to the 19800 block of Kenswick Drive about two teenagers being shot.
When authorities arrived, they found two teens, ages 15 and 16, with gunshot wounds.
Police say the teens approached a man coming out of a store and tried to rob him.
The man's friend saw him being robbed, got out of his car, and shot the two teenagers, according to Sergeant Jason Brown with HCSO's homicide division.
Deputies said that both teens were transported in critical condition to the hospital, where the 16-year-old was pronounced dead.
Officials said that both the man and his friend cooperated with investigators.
The relationship between the two teens is unclear. Deputies said there was another individual with the suspects being interviewed, but it is unknown of their involvement.
No charges have been filed at this time, but the case will be referred to a grand jury.
