Re: My Yugo M85 braced

How much flex in the brace are you getting when shooting?

Yeah, that's going to be a popular move. Ouch.

Re: Instructor Renewal

It's a 4 year cycle. Every 4 years, we have to attend classes w/DPS (IIRC, we did that last cycle), Every other cycle, we just renew online. We'll probably have to demonstrate proficiency with other LTC instructors. I don't recall there being any extra renewal steps required for instructors certifi...

Water safety doesn't care who you are. PFD is not an option on the water.

I should add, that's a terrible situation. Very sad.

The same way I shot a hole in my bedroom ceiling in 1997 with my Model 29 .44 mag. I dumped the rounds into my hand, said to myself, “yeah, that looks like 6”, and started single-action dry-firing the gun next to my left ear.

It was a bad move.
Has your ear stopped ringing yet?

Carry Guard is dead, long live the Personal Protection Expo....or something like that.

I'm actually going to be up there for that after an armorer's class. Could be interesting.

Re: Getting started in Optics on handguns

I'd look for a nice wide field of view. Top loading battery. Great battery life. Dourable. Adjustable (intensity, a real on off option, etc).

Trijicon SRO. New, big, and fixes the bottom battery loading problem the RMR 05/06 'suffer' from. But alas, won't be cheap.

Re: 9th Circuit says 2nd Amendment does not cover legally present but nonimmigrant aliens

What a mess. There are a ton of folks on non-immigrant visas (visiting students, work visas, etc) that have legally purchased firearms.

Off to see what our industry lawyer types are saying and if I have read this wrong.

Re: Nervous LTC test

What kind of gun are you shooting? a long stiff pull on a trigger can make it hard to keep the sights on target. Lots of new shooters these days are buying LC9s or LCP styled guns and they can be tough to master. I’m shooting a Sig P320 compact, again i have small frame hands so I am thinking it is...

Those are really the only two answers (Briley and Feland) for Houston that I give to customers asking about shotgun work. Be curious if anybody knows of a third?

Re: School Safety Certification Instructor Training Class

You'll get plenty of time for lunch. I popped over to Florence the first day, ate a nice lunch at D Boones and was back with plenty of time to spare. That's a really popular place with DPS so expect a crowd, but they're fast. Second day a student brought in enough breakfast tacos to feed an army, so...

Re: What Shotgun and Choke for Sporting Clays

For autoloaders, it really depends on what price point you're looking for. Semi auto's I've handled and shot: Beretta - they make great shotguns. The A400 is a nice gun and comes in several trim packages from field to fancy. Benelli - Super Black Eagle 3 is a terrific gun. CZ - The 712 is a great gu...

I'm late to the party. Please heal up and do what they tell ya!! Almost lost my dad a little over 10 years ago because of a perforated ulcer/ uncontrolled bleeding. For years, he took Excedrin by the handful (rebound or overuse headaches I think it's called) and it caught up to him. Fortunately, sur...

Re: Anaheim PD LEO's fire 76 rounds on move, through windshield.

Those guys are calm in the midst of a very tense situation. I don’t fault them for thinking that the airsoft was a real firearm. If the officer followed his training and did not violate departmental policy or did not disregard direct orders from a superior then I fail to see why he is fired. This P...
