You'll get plenty of time for lunch. I popped over to Florence the first day, ate a nice lunch at D Boones and was back with plenty of time to spare. That's a really popular place with DPS so expect a crowd, but they're fast.

Second day a student brought in enough breakfast tacos to feed an army, so I had leftovers for lunch in the classroom.

October (the one I was in) and the early November (one friends were in) were still the small class size.

And, FWIW, we actually had 2 no-shows for our class. Wait all that time, confirm, and not make it? Ouch.

Bet those larger class exercises will be fun.

And the answer, I'm told, is apparently nothing. That particular topic didn't come up during my two days up there. Figured there'd be the occasional program update to review.

Anybody hear anything about what hoops we'll have to jump through for renewal in the later portion of 2019? I hoping a separate trip to the Austin area isn't required if we also have to go up this time for LTC Instructor renewal.

Called RSD. Mine was mailed on the 8th. I'm to give it another 14 days. <shrug>

How long is it taking to get the certificate once you've done the class? I'm closing in on 3 weeks. Yep, I'm that impatient.

Back from the course.

One item for those who have already taken it. If it didn't come up, in regards to students taking the course from you, the LTC shoot/test pre-qual should meet the 90% instructor standard and not the 75% LTC standard...for obvious reasons.

For those going in the coming weeks.

- Local weather forecast as of this morning was for pretty solid rain chances through mid-November. You'll be shooting rain or shine due to tight scheduling so take appropriate gear.

We got lucky on the rain.

- They mistakenly cut and pasted from the old CHL firearms requirements. Take a 9mm or larger, and semi-auto only. I don't think any instructor would, but no sub gauge pistols or revolvers.

- Don't forget your hand towel. You'll need 2 mags, no more required or needed.

- You'll have more than enough time to leave and go get lunch.

- They've paved CR240. I thought for a second I'd taken the wrong turn.

- A surprising number of people speed on HWY 195 which has to be the easiest hunting grounds for DPS in all of the state.

- The Best Western Plus in Georgetown was clean and very convenient to I-35, but has walls as thin as any cheap motel you've ever stayed at. Wished I'd used some of my points and just stayed at the Ramada in Round Rock.

For those still on the waiting list. DPS is hoping to increase the class size. They've already increased the class frequency.

If anybody is in the Oct 22 and 23 class, let me know. Staying at the Best Western. Maybe we can fit a decent meal in.

Reliable source informs, there will be yet another class offered in November. They're really picking up the pace. Apparently in response the Govenor's meeting on school safety.

I know one, possibly two of the Oct 29-30 attendees and they're pretty good shooters. Ya'll will have a good group.

I stayed in Round Rock last time and used up some points. Think I'll give Georgetown a try this time.

Glad to hear you got a class.

I'm the week before you, Oct 22-23. Interesting they're running two that close together.

They run you thru the LTC test at the front of the course. This is apparently the 'weed out' which is scary to think that an LTC instructor can't shoot the LTC test clean, let alone pass w/ 90%.

I was asking if we needed to do the full monty and also shoot a revolver. Asked and answered already.

Did you have to shoot revolver too on the LTC test reshoot?

I mailed mine in end of January 2017. They cashed the check on Feb 10th. I'll be taking the course roughly a year and nine months after application.

DPS just confirmed me for the October class.
